About the Event
The City of Cockburn offers a Waterwise Verge Rebate Program proudly co-funded by Water Corporation’s Waterwise Greening Scheme. The program forms part of the City’s ambition to be a leading waterwise community. Join local sustainability expert Chris Ferreira to learn all about waterwise verges and how they can positively impact you home. This hands-on workshop will help you to understand the what, why and how to make your verge waterwise and wonderful. You can also get advice on your verge and how to apply for the City’s Waterwise Verge Rebate. The rebate offers residents $250-$500 to improve their verges by replacing thirsty lawn with waterwise plants and water saving mulch. Not only does it look spectacular, it creates a habitat for our natives birds and animals, saves water and decrease your water bill. Stroll through the Waterwise Pop-up Garden and Verge on display in front of the Spearwood Library from Friday 1 April until Thursday 7 April 2022, with two workshops hosted by Chris on Saturday 2 April and Wednesday 6 April from 10-11.30am. The pop-up was due to appear at Coogee Live 2022, which was unfortunately cancelled. With the support of The Forever Project and Water Corporation, the City has adapted the offering into a week-long display outside Spearwood Library. To make this event COVID-safe please register your attendance via this page. Further COVID-safe measures are in place, and during the outdoor workshops seating will be spaced 2m apart, there is a QR Code check-in, and hand sanitiser and masks will be available for those without.
